Other providers and the GDPR problem

September 24, 2018

Since May 25, 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation, abbreviated GDPR, has been bindingly in force. With our updates in April and May we have provided the necessary adjustments on the software side. Other providers consider this themselves now; after 4 months; not necessary or see themselves unable to implement it. The annoyance here is that consequently their customers also do not meet the necessary requirements or would have to retrofit them themselves in a cumbersome way. Even with open-source projects, unfortunately it does not look any better.

Currently we are not aware of any web interface for game servers and stream servers that has implemented the GDPR requirements. Affected are not only commercial but also private users. A cease-and-desist or report of violations therefore cannot be ruled out. Here it should generally be considered whether the use of such software should be completely avoided.

A migration to TekBASE should be easily feasible in most cases. We provide you with the necessary import script for various third-party providers.
